The centenarian’s secret

Enjoying life at age 106.  Playing beautiful music every day on her piano.  Smiling and laughing as she greets her friends and neighbors with the same loving welcome at all times.  Welcoming reporters from the same tribe that brutally abused her and her people.

Can you imagine living for years in imprisonment, with the threat of extermination hanging over you every single day?  Consumed with upsetting emotions over life’s minor events that we consider insurmountable, difficult, frustrating, unfair or even cruel, so many of us are living in a prison of our own making.

One lady, Alice Summer, survived the Nazi holocaust due to her concert piano background. She played beautiful music which transported her and her audience back to safer, happier, and more civilized times. She continues to play her music at age 106, planning to enjoy her upcoming birthday party in November, 2010, when she turns 107.

Alice shares her secret for longevity and health. Watch this sweet video to find out what that secret is. Who knows, maybe you will also be a healthy centenarian.

Wow what a lady to be this forgiving and creating such beauty around her. Takes a special person to truly transcend their surroundings and create a life of beauty like that.

She is a shining example of how forgiveness helps the person who forgives more than the perpetrator.

I too believe in the power of music to heal and give hope. And I aspire to Alice’s philosophy that hatred breeds hatred. What a wonderfully inspiring woman. Thank you.

She is inspiring. If she can forgive and not feel hatred after having gone through such an unimaginable experience, it should be so much easier for those of us who have not experienced such trauma and abuse to forgive those who have hurt, disappointed or even harmed us in some way.

I had just seen this video through a Facebook friend, so I’m glad it’s spreading. Definitely inspiring on so many levels. Having a positive attitude and a reason for living certainly are the key ingredients for longevity and more importantly, a meaningful life. Incredible!

Love this new blog by the way.
